Sarah Al-Sarraj

painting, comics, writing, and moving image

Sarah Al-Sarraj is a predominantly visual artist working with painting, comics, writing, and moving image. Her practice uses exploratory worldbuilding as a means of unmaking, transforming, and providing a portal into alternate lifeworlds. She finds herself investigating complex topics like conspiracy, spirituality, consciousness, desire and dreams, contextualizing them through global and historical perspectives. Her research is currently focused on conceptualising ideas around the natural world drawing from indigenous, queer, eco-anarchist, and Sufi metaphysical thought. She was recently awarded a grant from the Arts Council to develop an animation practice and is attempting to produce an animation for Help Is On The Way, Dear.
